 70 years ago the Hollywood Canteen opened at 1451 Cahuenga Boulevard.
Bette Davis served as President of the Canteen, which provided free entertainment to nearly 3 million servicemen during World War II. Reflecting on the opening night she said,”It seemed thousands of men entered the canteen that night. I had to crawl through a window to get inside.”
